The Career Development Process

Your career development begins with reflection and self assessment as you identify skills you enjoy exercising, interests that energize you and values which guide you.

The next step involves career exploration and research. We can help you to focus your exploration in areas of interest and provide you with tips for career research.

The third step in the process is reality testing. This will allow you to test the waters to determine if the options you are considering are a good fit for you. Varied experiences including internships, undergraduate research, fellowships, community service, study abroad and summer work are often enriching and inform your career choices.

The last step in the process involves the development of strategies to pursue graduate study or to engage in a job search directed toward our diverse and global marketplace.

We encourage you to simultaneously develop or strengthen your decision making skills. Each step in this process will position you for successful transitions throughout your future.
