Job Search/Grad School Prep

As you think about life beyond Brown, you might consider whether to pursue graduate studies now or in the future, look for full time employment or consider another option for your first step out of school. Each path has its own set of strategies, challenges and priorities.

Job Search

Know that students begin the job search at different times. While students sometimes tell us that the thought of the job search is overwhelming, it needn’t be. The CDC staff is here to help. Remember that it’s not about how many interviews you get, but finding great opportunities that are a good fit for you!

Graduate/Professional School

Applying for advanced study requires some planning to meet specific deadlines. The most important step is to determine whether now is the best time for you to go and, if so, to make good decisions about your field of study and which programs or institutions you’re interested in. The CDC is a good place to discuss the process of applying to graduate school. Faculty members are critically important advisors as you consider specific areas of advanced study. Be sure to reach out to the Law School or Health Careers Advisors in the Office of the Dean of the College if those are areas you are considering.

Set up a meeting with a career counselor who can help you come up with an individualized game plan for next steps.
