Faculty

The Career Development Center (CDC) supports undergraduates, graduate students and alumni in all aspects of their career development. The staff provides assistance through individual career counseling, walk-in hours for quick questions, programs, events, a robust recruiting program for internships and jobs and a wide range of print and on-line resources.

In Brown’s unique environment students are encouraged to integrate their career development with the academic enterprise. They are urged to engage with the CDC early in their Brown experience in order to maximize their time at Brown. Just as students are encouraged to develop an advising partnership with their faculty and peer advisors, so too, are they invited to add CDC staff to their advising team.

Some students arrive at Brown with focused career goals, others arrive excited to be here but uncertain about life beyond Brown. The career development process helps students reflect on their skills, interests and values, it encourages them to broadly explore career options and it supports reality testing through internships, research, fellowships, study abroad, service and additional experiential opportunities. Staff assist with graduate school decision making and the application process while referring students to you for discipline and program specific information.

Faculty and the CDC can support students in making informed decisions. A successful Brown experience will provide the education and competencies needed to launch students into the world of work and enable them to make successful transitions throughout their future.
