Networking
Networking is an additional tool in finding an internship. While networking, broadly defined, allows you to gather information about industries, organizations and career paths, it also can help you to identify internships.
- Review our Networking Tip Sheet.
- Develop a list of people you'd like to speak with. These may be people in positions that intrigue you or in organizations of interest.
- Develop a list of questions. If your contact confirms that there are internship opportunities available, what do you need to know to proceed? Who do you need to contact in order to apply?
Networking has been identified as one of the most effective ways to find opportunities which are the right fit.
If the thought of contacting someone you don't know is unnerving, contact a career counselor to do some role playing. You'll discover how easy, enjoyable and helpful the networking process can be.
