Understanding Campus Recruiting

Our goal is to help provide students with access to all types of opportunities, but depending on the type of industry and the organization there are varying degrees of employer engagement in campus recruiting activities and visibility on campus.

Typical industries that engage in campus recruiting during the fall include consulting, financial services, technology and some government agencies. These industries share a hiring cycle of recruiting for full time positions during the fall and internships during the spring semester. Many of the employers in these industries have College Relations departments and budgets for campus recruiting, and know their hiring needs well in advance.

During the spring semester, employers from most other industries, including non profit, social enterprise, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, media, and healthcare recruit for full time positions. Employers from many of these industries never engage in campus recruiting, and students need to access them differently.

All internship recruiting at Brown is conducted during the spring semester.
