Find a Job
The most successful job search involves a variety of approaches. You may be tempted to concentrate your job search online, but you'll have far more success if you diversify your search. The Career Development Center offers a number of programs and tools to assist you in finding a job. Whether you are focusing in business, education, non-profits, the arts, research or any number of other fields.
Some effective job search strategies include:
- Brown Career Connection—participation in the campus recruiting program
- Brown-to-Brown listserv
- Careers in the Common Good
- Government at Work
- Direct application to employers
- Field and city-specific databases
- Networking
Making connections and building your network is key—60% to 80% of jobs are discovered through networking. Ask for advice and leads from family, friends and faculty—those who know you well. Take advantage of the services and events at Brown, particularly those sponsored through the Career Development Center.
Make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss your job search and develop an individual plan.
