Peer Career Advisors
The Peer Career Advisor Program supports the programs and services available through the Career Development Center, and provides a vehicle for student input for exploring and implementing new initiatives. PCAs provide walk-in resource advising in our Resource Library, including resume and cover letter critiques. In addition, PCAs reach out to the Brown undergraduate community through presentations on campus. PCAs also collaborate with DUGS and other student organizations on campus. PCAs assist the CDC in strategizing ways to increase the visibility of the department to Brown undergraduates.
PCAs receive training in peer advising, resume and cover letter critiquing, CDC programs and services, job and internship search strategies, identification and promotion of resources and other areas related to career development. PCAs learn how to develop and present workshops, and techniques for conducting career-related research. Prior knowledge about any of these things is not necessary to apply! The biggest requirement is enthusiasm, a desire to assist other students, and a desire to learn.
