What is the Ittleson Networking Breakfast?
Generously supported by Mr. H. Anthony Ittleson '60, P'89, P'90, the Ittleson Networking Breakfast gives students an opportunity to meet, network and socialize with Brown alumni and other undergraduates interning in the New York metro area for the summer. Join us to meet alumni with expertise in various fields, establish valuable contacts, learn what other Brown interns are doing and talk about internship and career issues.

 

WHO MAY ATTEND THE BREAKFAST?
All Brown undergraduates and recent graduates (2008) living or working in the New York metro area are invited. Pre-registration by Wednesday, July 16, 2008 is required to attend the breakfast.

 

WheRE AND WHEn is the BREAKFAST?
The Ittleson Foundation is located at 15 East 67th Street (between 5th and Madison) in New York. The breakfast will be held Wednesday, July 23, 7:30 am—10:00 am.

What is the Event Schedule?
7:15-7:30 am: Alumni Registration and Breakfast
7:30-8:00 am: Student Registration and Breakfast
8:00-8:15 am: Welcome and Introductions
8:15-9:50 am: Industry Specific Roundtable Discussions with Brown alumni
9:50-10:00 am: Closing Remarks

 

How is it Structured?
Alumni are asked to arrive between 7:15 – 7:30 am and students between 7:30-7:45 am. Breakfast will be available when you arrive. The program will begin at 8:00 am with a brief welcome and logistical overview. Immediately following, alumni roundtable hosts and student attendees will be seated at the industry specific tables (alumni are assigned locations; students choose their locations). There will be two or three table rotations. There will be two alumni per table (typically) and hosts will remain seated at the same table throughout the course of the breakfast.

How do I Prepare for the Breakfast?
  • Check back at this site to see who the alumni participants are; research their organizations and their specific career fields.

  • Think ahead about questions you'd like to pose to alumni participants. Issues you might consider are entry level positions; preparation necessary for advancement; career paths in the field; lifestyle; organizational culture.

After the Event

  • You will receive the contact information for the alumni panelists at the event and are welcome to contact the alumni after the program with follow-up questions.

  • The alumni who attend the breakfast are pleased to volunteer their time and would always appreciate receiving a thank you message.

 

What does it cost to attend the breakfast?
Thanks to Mr. Ittleson's generosity, there is no charge for the event. Students, however, are responsible for their own transportation costs.

 

What Should I Wear to the Breakfast?
Please wear business/business-casual attire. Remember, your appearance is a part of the first impression you make!

 

How do I get to The Ittleson Foundation?
The Ittleson Foundation is located at 15 East 67th Street (between 5th and Madison) in New York. If you are traveling by subway, please visit the Metropolitan Transportation Authority website.

Mr. Ittleson has been extremely generous in his support of this program. We must stress to students that once you indicate your interest, we expect you to attend. Please let us know as soon as possible if you must cancel.
